10th Amendment Bill Passes OK Senate!

HCR 1028, Oklahoma’s state’s rights bill, declaring sovereignty under the 10th Amendment to the United States, passed the Oklahoma Senate today (Wednesday, May 13, 2009).  The bill authors are Rep. Charles Key and Senator Randy Brogdon.

Passed unanimously by voice vote, HCR 1028 does not have to go the Governor for signing.  Prior attempts to pass a 10th Amendment bill failed until this year when both the OK House and the Senate passed HJR 1003 (the original bill number).  HJR 1003 was vetoed by Governor Brad Henry on April 24, 2009.

Other News:

The OK Senate today voted to expand the reasons to collect DNA to include conviction of misdemeanor crimes.

SB 1102, by Nichols of the Senate and Terrill of the House, is a big-government, DNA-grabbing bill named “Juli’s Law” after a murder case from 1996.  The bill passed 37-8 with little discussion.

The 37 YEA votes include one legislator who voted against the bill before he voted for the bill. (Why does that sound familiar? Flip-flop.)

Although the people objected to this bill, the legislators decided to work for the “law enforcement” lobbyists – more laws, more loss of freedoms…..
