Smart Meter Battle Escalating – Idaho Power Brings Guns to the Fight

In the ongoing battle against the seriously flawed Smart Meter program (which is not mandatory, by the way, despite what your utility company may be telling you), Idaho Power has shown just how far they’ll go  to get their spy meters installed on homes in Idaho.

They’ll bring guns to the fight.

On Tuesday, December 13, 2011 Idaho Power showed up at Vicky Davis’ Twin  Falls home with declaratory order and a Deputy Sheriff  from Twin Falls County, to forceably remove the analog meter and replace it with a Smart Meter.

Sheriff Tom Carter -“Upon taking office, I knew one of the things I wanted to emphasize was our service to the community in a capacity that goes beyond police work.”

Davis, an independent researcher and long-time resident of Idaho, has been resisting the installation of the Smart Meter since last year, knowing that their installation was not mandated, and that technology that makes the digital meter works is dual use – serving both as a surveillance device and a reporting system.

(See the earlier OK-SAFE post on the Smart Grid here.)

Another Twin falls resident, Bonnie Menthe, had a similar incident at her home.  She openly opposed the installation of the Smart Meter on her home, but Idaho Power installed the new meter while she was away.  A neighbor watching her home challenged the Idaho Power company representative when he showed up at the Menthe home accompanied by an officer from the Twin Falls city police.

The representative told the neighbor nothing was going on and proceeded with the installation. The city police officer declined to answer the woman’s questions.

Davis received written notification of the forced installation a few days earlier.  Menthe states she received no such written notice.

“Nothing like that was given to me, not stuck in my door.  I wasn’t home and they clearly knew that I didn’t want one. I have a notice posted on my meter stating my objection to the smart meter being installed.”  Menthe went on to say, “I have a six foot fence, and the meter is on the side of my house, with a metal bar to prevent the door swinging opened.  My neighbor says they (Idaho Power) had a step-stool like thing and climbed over the fence on that.”

Below is a reverse order timeline of events leading up to the installation of the Smart Meter on Vicky’s home.  She has also devoted a new webpage on her website Channeling Reality (www.channelingreality.com) called Smart Meter Drama.

From Vicky Davis-

12-13-11 “Idaho Power went to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to get a declaratory order to replace my analog meter with a Smart Meter.  They were accompanied by a Deputy Sheriff of Twin Falls County to enforce the order.
I’ll be on Deanna Spingola’s radio talk show on RBN on Thursday and Friday (12/15 and 12/16) of this week to talk about the Smart Meters and my research into energy legislation and the means by which America’s energy will be choked off in the name of efficiency.  Technology is dual use.   It’s a weapon as well as a tool.   It all depends on who is using it and for what purpose.
Deanna’s program is on from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm central time.
In some places you can listen live on the radio but for most of us, we have to listen on the internet. Listen live links can be found here:

12/6/11 – Vicky’s Response  to Idaho Power
December 6, 2011
Idaho Power
Dear Mr. Rick Astley,
On December 3, 2011, I received two duplicate letters from Mr. Rick Astley with Mr. Bell and Ms. Nordstrom listed as recipients of carbon copies. I intend to hand deliver this response letter to Mr. Chris Bell at the Idaho Power office in Twin Falls with the expectation that it will be faxed to the recipients who are located in Boise. I will however, mail a copy to Mr. Astley and Ms. Nordstrom via regular mail.
This letter is the response to Mr. Astley’s letter dated December 1, 2011 concerning my refusal to allow an Idaho Power employee/contractor access to my property to replace my current power meter with an AMI Smart Meter. I have never refused to allow the Idaho Power meter reader access to the property to read my meter nor have I ever refused access to any other Idaho Power employee/representative who made a request for access for any purpose other than for exchange of the meter. It was misleading to imply otherwise.
As I made clear in conversations with the Tru-Check contractor and Idaho Power Customer Service Representatives both verbally and in writing, I do not want a smart meter installed. Smart Meter technology – regardless of the method of communications, is a surveillance, detection, monitoring, data collection, and communications and control device. Those capabilities are outside the scope of a public utility chartered to provide electric service. If your charter has been changed to Idaho de-Power and Spy, then please advise me of the law that requires me to submit so that I can verify it with the Sheriff’s office and my attorney.
Rest of letter here.

12/1/11 – Letter from Idaho Power to Vicky Davis -
Dear Ms. Vicky Davis,
As previously explained in my letter to you dated 9/19/2011 Idaho Power must replace existing meters with Advanced Metering Infrastructure pursuant to Idaho Public Utilities Commission Order Nos. 29362, 30102, and 30726. Once installed, this infrastructure will enable Idaho Power to provide enhanced customer services and reduce its operating expenses to keep customer rates as low as possible.
Idaho Power personnel or its exchange contractor, Tru-Check, recently attempted to exchange the meter at *****, Twin Falls, ID on 8/31/2011; however, you refused the Company access to its meter. Under the terms of service outlined in Utility Customer Relations Rule 302.05 (IDAPA 31.21.01.302.05), a utility may terminate service to a customer that denied or willfully prevented the utility’s access to the meter.” Although Idaho Power does not wish to terminate your electric service or take legal action against you, Idaho Power cannot ignore the lawful order of the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to exchange the meter. Idaho Power anticipates it will need only five minutes to exchange the meter and that your power will be interrupted for just a few minutes at most. You need not be present at the time the exchange occurs.
Rest of letter here.

  2. I would really like to know exactly what our “Government” has in store for us next. I have often wondered why I feel a rumbling in my head for no reason. I thought I was going crazy until my brother, who lives next door, mentioned he was having the same effects.
This has been going on for a lot longer than most people realize and it’s time for something to be done about it!
Most people are like sheep, afraid to say anything. That is why America is in the shape it is in.
If anyone can identify with things that just don’t seem like they should or should not be……… then, maybe they aren’t the only ones who do.
    I smell a giant ” Conspiracy Theory”!!!

  3. The smart meter concept was introduced to Utilities across America back in 1999 possibly earlier. The electric company’s responses were that the costs outweighed the benefits to anyone, especially the electric company. They did not want to foot the bill.

Somewhere between 1999 and 2001 some Utilities started to petition their State’s governing Utility Commission for small pilot programs to study the meter program and RF/ Microwave systems. Grant money was in their site and they wanted it.

By waiving notice to unsuspecting consumers, smart meters were installed, the Utility was in control of the study results.
Who would one complain to about suddenly usual symptoms? Their spouses, children, or doctors? Would they complain or would they be afraid to complain at all? Spontaneous tinnitus, internal vibration, tachycardia, trouble breathing, nausea, rashes, incredible insomnia, glaucoma, agitation, awaken in the middle at the exact same time every night your eyes just open, IT IS CAUSED by smart meters, period.

If one was to discern that some type of energy was responsible for this. would they ever consider that the utility company may have placed a new meter on there home. Absolutely, NOT!
Fast forward… After they completely deceive their customers the utility and State Attorney General signs a Declaration Under the Penalty of Perjury that their AMI/AMR/Remote Connect Disconnect, etc. results were positive, no complaints. Give us our Phase III Grant money DOE. $$$$$$ Thank you

This is fleecing the nation of their homes, lives, health, finances, stability because we run from the radiation exposure because we get so ill. Not to mention the erosion of our civil liberties, invasion of privacy that amounts to warrantless searches and the perceived right to defend your home against invasion of corporate tyranny, the greased palms of local authorities.

I was robbed…who is going to restore me to my former position. Who is going give me my health back? Who is going to apologize me? Certainly not AVISTA UTILITIES.

    Dear Ms. Aders,

Thank you for your call to our department. Our records reflect the electric, gas and engineering department has investigated your concerns on 3/2/09, 3/11/09, 3/23/09, 4/13/09 and 4/19/09. All tests to our equipment are normal and could not find any problems with Avista equipment. We are sorry you are experiencing problems however nothing has shown it is coming from our electrical infrastructure or gas.

In light of additional information please let us know.

All that I get is to become a trail blazer. I get to speak up and talk back and tell the unbelievers THE TIME IS NOW! CRUSH THIS PROGRAM. You will never sleep the same again, you will be in pain, you will loose your cognitive functioning, you will watch the trees die, flowers forget to bloom, birds will leave, bees die, your soul sinks into despair because everyone is being affected even if they do not feel it, like me.

I was rendered electromagnetically hypersensitive sensitive. I had never heard of the condition and did not want to believe it. The consequences of not avoiding exposures is a quick rod to measure the reality of it.

  4. From Oklahoma: If Smart Meters were good for customers
why the “gag-order”. It would be headline news not a slip
around go-along-to-get-along method of installing Smart
Meters on the side of our homes with or without permission.
The taxpayers are paying OG&E through a gift from The
Oklahoma Corporation, in the sum of $366,400,000, to
construct a smart grid. (Three-Hundred sixty-six Million, four hundred thousand Dollars!) Governor Mary Fallin and State
Auditors should zoom down on Dana Murphy’s office,
along with the Legislators who approved the gift, as
well as OG&E Officials, and SES Partnership that
condones it, (and that gets pretty close to home.)
The people of Oklahoma, not Obama’s Smart Grid Inc.,
should be in control. The people should not be controlled
by a bunch of politicians. Will we have to call an
election before the election…to stop this?
Meanwhile the Smart Meters which can emit as
much as 190,000 pulses in our homes, per day,
are being forced down the throats of unsuspecting
customers. We’ve been taught since childhood to
respect Government Officials. I ask: Who can you trust?

  5. Get the cops name and badge number. Do some research. Magdahavas.com “Barrie Trower” microwave weapons expert came out of retirement to warn us of what pulsed microwaves are capable of. These meters emit 10,000 to 190,000 pulses a day. Remember it’s not a thermal effect it’s a biological one.

  8. The dumbass sheriff of that county needs to have a chat with Sheriff Richard Mack about the oath he took when he took office. I live in Oklahoma and recently sent on e-mail to my US Senator Tom Coburn in regard to Smart Meters. I asked several questions
and one was if the meters were mandatory and he replied they are voluntary so thats good enough for me. Cops need to check into the legality of the installations also.

    Comment by Doc — December 17, 2011 @ 11:01 pm

    • I have talked to two cops so far and they have no clue what a s/meter is. You need to arm them with information. Get to know the side effects like “Radio Wave Sickness” or “Microwave Sickness”. Most people have no idea why they have frequent headaches, ears ringing, dizziness, and heart palpitations. These meter are emitting a class 2b carcinogen (same class as lead paint).
